STATUS 2 170 DH - 2026
STATUS 2 finds the boundaries of mountain bikes and pushes past them. Is it a trail bike? Yes. Park bike? Yep. Cruise to the convenience store and stop for a stealth session on a concrete wall ride? Oh yeah. STATUS 2 is a bike meant to be ridden, however or wherever you ride.
Whether you are on the trails, at the bike park, in the streets, or just cutting turns with your friends on a local hill, the STATUS 2 will allow you to ride your way.
BUILT BY RIDERS: Each build starts with a super strong M5 alloy chassis and tough alloy wheels. Stout suspension, powerful brakes, and popular drivetrain options round out these builds to catch big hits, pedal smooth, and provide a ton of stoppage. It’s not for the gram counter—it’s for those riders who push the boundaries of progression and come back for more.
RIDE DYNAMICS TUNED: Before showing up at your doorstep or local bike shop, each STATUS 2 gets a special shock tune from our Specialized Ride Dynamics team—a group that eats, sleeps, and breathes mountain bike suspension. The characteristics of the shock are designed to complement the kinematics of the new STATUS 2 perfectly.
LET’S GET PERSONAL: Each model of STATUS 2 features neatly packaged flip chips (located on the Horst pivot link, close to the rear axle) that allow the rider to finely tune the frame’s geometry to their desired ride or terrain. Bikes ship in the high position but can be ‘flipped’ to lower and slacker—8 mm lower bottom bracket and half a degree slacker head tube angle.

This bike is built around an M5 alloy chassis with a rear-end designed for Trail Geometry, featuring a horst pivot geo adjustment, threaded bottom bracket, internal cable routing with an external rear brake option, 12x148mm dropouts, sealed cartridge bearing pivots, SRAM UDH compatibility, and 170mm of travel. The frameset uses a 38.6mm alloy seat binder, while suspension duties are handled by a RockShox BoXXer 29 fork with a Charger 3 RC damper, offering adjustable low-speed compression and rebound, a 20x110mm thru-axle, 44mm offset, and 180mm of travel, paired with a RockShox Vivid Coil rear shock with external rebound adjustment and hydraulic bottom out (230x62.5mm). Stopping power comes from SRAM Maven Bronze 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes front and rear. The drivetrain is DH-specific, using a SRAM Descendant DH DUB alloy crankset with a 34T ring and 165mm arms, SRAM DUB threaded wide bottom bracket, SRAM GX DH 7-speed cassette (11-24t), GX DH rear derailleur and trigger shifter, and a SRAM PC1110 chain with Powerlink. Rolling on Roval 29" alloy DH rims (28mm internal width, 28h, tubeless-ready), the wheels are built with DT Swiss Elemental spokes, an alloy 20x110mm front hub, and a Specialized alloy rear hub (12x148mm thru-axle, 6-bolt, 32h), wrapped in Butcher GRID Gravity tires—29x2.4" front with GRIPTON T9 compound and 27.5x2.4" rear. The cockpit is race-ready, including a Body Geometry Henge DH saddle with hollow Cro-Mo rails, Deity Lockjaw grips, a Descendant 35mm direct mount stem (50mm length), a Specialized 2-bolt alloy seatpost with micro-adjust, and wide alloy handlebars (6000 series) with 6° upsweep and 8° backsweep, offered in size-specific widths: 780mm with 20mm rise for S2, and 800mm with 50mm rise for S3-S5. This complete build delivers downhill durability, precision handling, and aggressive control for the most demanding trails
