STATUS 2 170 - 2025
STATUS 2 finds the boundaries of mountain bikes and pushes past them. Is it a trail bike? Yes. Park bike? Yep. Cruise to the convenience store and stop for a stealth session on a concrete wall ride? Oh yeah. STATUS 2 is a bike meant to be ridden, however or wherever you ride.
Whether you are on the trails, at the bike park, in the streets, or just cutting turns with your friends on a local hill, the STATUS 2 will allow you to ride your way.
BUILT BY RIDERS: Each build starts with a super strong M5 alloy chassis and tough alloy wheels. Stout suspension, powerful brakes, and popular drivetrain options round out these builds to catch big hits, pedal smooth, and provide a ton of stoppage. It’s not for the gram counter—it’s for those riders who push the boundaries of progression and come back for more.
RIDE DYNAMICS TUNED: Before showing up at your doorstep or local bike shop, each STATUS 2 gets a special shock tune from our Specialized Ride Dynamics team—a group that eats, sleeps, and breathes mountain bike suspension. The characteristics of the shock are designed to complement the kinematics of the new STATUS 2 perfectly.
LET’S GET PERSONAL: Each model of STATUS 2 features neatly packaged flip chips (located on the Horst pivot link, close to the rear axle) that allow the rider to finely tune the frame’s geometry to their desired ride or terrain. Bikes ship in the high position but can be ‘flipped’ to lower and slacker—8 mm lower bottom bracket and half a degree slacker head tube angle.

The bike features an M5 Alloy chassis with a matching rear end, built around Trail Geometry and a Horst pivot with adjustable geometry. It includes a threaded bottom bracket, internal cable routing with an option for an external rear brake line, 12x148mm dropouts, sealed cartridge-bearing pivots, and full SRAM UDH compatibility, delivering 170mm of rear travel. Up front, suspension is handled by a FOX FLOAT 38 Rhythm fork with a GRIP damper, two‑position Sweep adjustment, a 15x110mm QR axle, 44mm offset, and 170mm of travel. The rear shock is a FOX DHX Performance with a Ride Dynamics Trail Tune, sized at 230x60mm for S1 and 230x62.5mm for S2–S5, paired with coil springs ranging from 350 lbs to 600 lbs depending on size.
Braking is supplied by TRP Trail EVO hydraulic disc brakes with 4‑piston calipers and 203mm rotors front and rear. The drivetrain uses Shimano Deore M6100 components, including a 12‑speed cassette with Hyperglide+ (10–51t), matching chain, Shadow Plus rear derailleur, and I‑Spec EV shifter. The Shimano M6120 crankset runs a 32T chainring and 55mm chainline, with crank lengths varying by size.
The wheel setup includes Specialized hookless alloy rims with a 30mm inner width, tubeless‑ready construction, DT Swiss Industry spokes, and sealed‑bearing hubs (12x148mm rear, 15x110mm front). Tires are a Butcher GRID GRAVITY T9 27.5x2.3" in the rear and a Butcher GRID TRAIL T9 29x2.3" in the front, both 2Bliss Ready, with standard Presta‑valve tubes.
The cockpit features a 35mm‑bore alloy Trail stem, Specialized 6061 alloy handlebars with 6° upsweep, 8° backsweep, and a 30mm rise—780mm wide on S1 and 800mm on S2–S5. A Bridge Comp saddle with hollow Cr‑Mo rails sits atop an X‑Fusion Manic dropper post, offering size‑specific travel from 125mm to 190mm. Deity Knuckleduster grips complete the setup.
