Chisel Hardtail - 2026
The Chisel has been purpose-built to tackle modern cross-country trails and race courses with the utmost speed. In fact, it shares many of the same modern features as its Epic Hardtail sibling but in a more budget-friendly package—making it the most efficient and capable alloy hardtail out there.
This Chisel comes with SRAM's tried and true NX Eagle 1x12 speed drivetrain and DB6 hydraulic disc brakes, a RockShox Recon Silver fork, and 27mm internal width alloy wheels wrapped in 2.35 Fast Track Control casing tires.
- We asked ourselves, “How do we bring pro-level performance down to a price more riders can afford?” D'Aluisio Smartweld Technology, that's how. Smartweld allows us to create the most consistent, high-strength welds possible while taking full advantage of compliant, hydroformed alloy tubes. The result? One of the lightest alloy hardtail frames out there at 1,350g, which also features size-tuned stiffness.
- The Chisel also houses all of the modern features that you expect from an XC bike, like Progressive XC Geometry with a 68-degree headtube angle and longer reach, internal cable routing, a threaded bottom bracket, boost spacing, 30.9mm dropper post compatibility, and 1x-only drivetrains
This bike features a Specialized Alloy 34.9 seat binder with a steel bolt and a Specialized D’Aluisio Smartweld M5 Alloy frame, constructed with hydroformed tubes and Progressive XC Geometry for optimal performance. The frame includes internal cable routing, a BSA bottom bracket, 12x148mm spacing, and compatibility with a 30.9mm dropper post. Suspension is handled by a RockShox Recon Silver RL fork with a 15x110mm thru-axle, 42mm offset, and travel of 80mm for XS sizes and 100mm for S–XL sizes. Stopping power comes from SRAM DB6 hydraulic disc brakes with four-piston calipers, featuring a 160mm rotor in the rear and a 180mm rotor in the front. The drivetrain is fully SRAM NX Eagle, including a 32T chainring, Powerspline crankset in 165/170/175mm options, 12-speed rear derailleur, matching 12-speed chain, 11-50t cassette, trigger shifters, and a Powerspline bottom bracket. Rolling on Specialized Alloy tubeless-ready rims with a 27mm inner width and 28-hole design, the bike is equipped with a sealed cartridge bearing rear hub (12x148mm thru-axle) and a Specialized alloy front hub with sealed cartridge bearings (15x110mm thru-axle, 6-bolt, 32h), laced with 14g stainless steel spokes. Traction comes from Specialized Fast Trak 29x2.35 tires with Flex Lite Casing and T5/T7 Compound, paired with Specialized Turbo Tubes. The cockpit includes a Body Geometry Power Sport saddle with steel rails, Specialized Alloy XC minirise handlebars (double-butted, 8° backsweep, 6° upsweep, 10mm rise, 31.8mm), Specialized Trail Grips, and a 3D-forged alloy stem with a 4-bolt, 7° rise. Completing the setup is a TranzX Dropper post (30.9mm) with travel lengths of 100mm for XS–SM, 125mm for M, and 150mm for L–XL sizes.
